Whoa. Has it really been over a year since the last time we wrote a blog entry?! That’s what happens when one is running several businesses that are all thriving! Good problems to have, for sure.
What have we been up to over the last year anyway?! As those who know the three owners know very well, we love our coffee. We have often lamented the lack of availability of good coffee in and around Mathias, where Lost River Vacations is located. So, we decided to do something about it. (Sound familiar?!)
We bought a trailer and La Marzocco machine (yes, we went all out…we don’t play!) and we are VERY excited about our new venture, Lost River Coffee. We are not open just yet, but we have signed a lease and our coffee trailer, Lost River Coffee, will be open on weekends- we will be next to the Lost River Gym and Lost and Found Pizza, which will be opening this spring!
We will be serving Deaf-owned Big Bully Beans, of course, and we aim to be local and organic! We debuted this concept at the Gallaudet Homecoming, where we sold over a hundred beverages, and received enthusiastic support. Check out some pictures!

The Tragically Hip
Do you think that’s all?! LOL of course not… we’re so excited about adding a sauna to our property VERY soon! We have been waiting months for a backordered electrical panel from the electric company, and hope to finish the install of the sauna ASAP. The sauna will be accessible to all of our wonderful guests who stay at Lost River Vacations and it has a panoramic window!
What else do we have up our sleeves?! We haven’t been idle, that’s for sure. Everyone asks what’s up with house 3, what’s the progress and the plans?! Well, buying an espresso trailer and sauna were significant investments! We also are working on a shared pavilion space which is also expensive (and still in progress). We have laid the utility lines, identified the specific location, and collaborated with a Deaf architect to design the third house. It is beautiful and we’re so excited to build it. We hope to begin the build this spring / summer, but we have a lot of bookings already, making scheduling a little challenging. We’re getting there though, and we’re so appreciative for all of your support! When we look at the property, it is amazing how far we have come in five years, and we’re so excited to see what the next five years will bring us.
